For beginning and intermediate painters.  Working from the still life, Nancy teaches fundamentals of drawing, composition, color mixing and how to see colors in their appropriate values. Limited to 16 students. Wednesdays 9:30AM - 12:30PM.

For beginning students with little or no experience, or for those who have not touched a brush in years! In this course, Nancy will take you through the materials needed for oil painting, how to mix colors with a limited palette, and how to think in shapes. During these three days students will paint a still life from life on the first day.  Day 2 will be spent finishing the still life and talking about how to work from photos and Day 3 will be spent on working directly from a favorite photo. There will be frequent demos by the instructor.  Using the direct method of painting, Nancy will show you how to achieve great results while losing your fear of painting with oils! For beginning and intermediate painters. This class will explore the basic structure of the head with an emphasis on correct shapes and values. Students may work in any medium including charcoal, pastel, watercolor and oil. All work will be done from life. Model fees are extra and will be equally divided among the students. Limited to 16 students. Bring whatever materials you are comfortable with, and a portable easel. The class meets every Wednesday morning  from 9:30 until 12:30.  In this fast-paced workshop, Tankersley will teach  students how to use photos as a tool to make their figure paintings lively, energetic and having strong design. Oils are preferred but students may also work in pastel or acrylics.
